Udaipur – Lakes, Palaces & Royal Charm

Day 0: The Overnight Drive Leave the city behind in the evening for an overnight road trip to the "Venice of the East." It’s a long stretch (approx. 695 km), but arriving at the gates of the Aravalli hills as the sun rises makes it worth the drive. Day 1: Palaces & Lakeside Sunsets The Check-in: Arrive in Udaipur, check into your hotel, and freshen up. The Grandeur: Spend your morning at the City Palace. It’s a massive labyrinth of courtyards and balconies with some of the best panoramic views of the city. The Spirit: Stop by the 17th-century Jagdish Temple, right near the palace, to see the intricate Indo-Aryan carvings. The Evening: Head down to Lake Pichola. Whether you take a boat ride or just sit by the ghats, the vibe here as the lights hit the water is unmatched. Day 2: The Great Wall of India The Drive: After breakfast, take a 2-hour scenic drive (100 km) to Kumbhalgarh Fort. The Legend: This is the birthplace of Maharana Pratap and features the second-longest continuous wall in the world (after the Great Wall of China). The scale of the fortifications against the mountain backdrop is incredible. The Return: Head back to Udaipur in the evening for dinner and a relaxed night stay. Day 3: Hilltop Views & Local Markets The Panorama: Visit the Sajjangarh Fort (Monsoon Palace). Sitting high on a hill, it offers a bird’s-eye view of all the lakes and the surrounding countryside. The Hunt: Spend your afternoon wandering through the local markets. It’s the best time to pick up authentic Rajasthani handicrafts, silver jewelry, or traditional textiles. The Departure: Board your overnight transfer back toward Delhi/NCR in the evening. Day 4: Back Home Reach home early in the morning, refreshed from a royal weekend in the White City.
